Alzheimers Resident Design Ideas
If you have elderly relatives or are the primary caregiver for them you need to check this out. In preparation for our recent proposal to Clarity Point Memory Care (America’s “State of the Art” Memory care facility) the designers at The Tamarind Group researched designing for the elderly and memory challenged. What a learning experience! The Alzheimer’s resident has very specific needs, some of which I have detailed below. These should be considered when bringing an elderly family member into the house or furnishing a room for them at a local facility or residence. Seating should have a certain seat back pitch (closer to 90 degrees), and sturdy arms. The pitch allows for an easy rise and decent, and the arms help the person push up to rise.
